The Terrible Trap Door (That Never Moved)
The Terrible Trap Door (That Never Moved)

On Lincoln Street, when I was small,
The attic watched us from the wall.
Above her bed, it slept in gray -
A hatch the sun could not allay.
I’d hold my breath when walking by,
As if it heard, and might reply.
