The Night of the Hunter

The Night of the Hunter is one of the creepiest movies I've seen.  I'd say it's at least on par with DeNiro's Cape Fear.  Robert Mitchum is insanely creepy and evil in this movie, and Charles Laughton's vision of what this movie should look and sound like is downright masterful.  Creepier still is the fact that this movie is based on a true story!  Another thought here, for some reason I didn't even realize Shelley Winters was in this one.

REVIEWS:  Deep Focus Review has an absolutely masterful analysis.  I don't think others are really necessary!

FAVORITE SCENE:  They know he's there.  As a matter-of-fact he's sitting on the fence post.  The kids are squirelled away in the house, the old lady sits guard in a rocking chair on porch...shotgun on her lap, and Harry Powell sits there singing, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.  Who knew that such an historically comforting hymn could sound so menacing?  Watch this:

FAVORITE QUOTE:  Get your state troopers out here. I got something trapped in my barn. -- Rachel Cooper

RATING:  Oh without a doubt - most excellent!

WATCH IT AGAIN?:  Yeah, this just may make it into an annual viewing.

DO I WANNA OWN IT?:  I'll probably buy it on Google Play.
